Fall is here, my second favorite time of the year (miss you summer).

Although we don’t have true seasons in California, I do enjoy the energetic shift the fall brings.

The shorter days call for a slower pace than normal, as there simply is not enough time to do it all. Fall also brings cooler temperatures, which means more cuddles and quality time indoors with loved ones.

I equally enjoy counting down the days until Thanksgiving, the time of year my fellow Americans throw down on collard greens, dressing, mac and cheese, yams, and turkey (or oyster mushrooms for the plant eaters like myself).

This month’s newsletter is about a recent group trip to México to celebrate mí amiga’s 30th trip around the sun.

If you’ve been reading SIN PRISA for awhile, you might recall my confession of developing a phobia for group trips. Group trips tend to evoke a deep level of anxiety and stress in me.

However, my outlook on group trips is shifting, thanks to my day 1 and her amazing family. I’ve declared this trip to México as one of the best group trips to date. Our time is México was a much needed intervention for my self-diagnosed phobia.

We arrived in México still buzzing from her epic surprise 30th birthday party. Her now fiancé popped the question and asked her to be his wife.

I cried tears of joy watching the moment unfold and hearing her say YES to the love of her life. These two virgo lovebirds met in my college dorm room over a decade ago. So to witness and be a part of this moment was confirmation GOD placed us in each other's life for a bigger purpose.

I could not imagine my college experience without her. We’ll have many fun and wild stories to tell our kiddos in the future. Shoutout to her dad who randomly introduced us at our college orientation when we were just 17-year old otter babies.

Our trip to México was the perfect balance of quality time, turn up, and relaxation. We ate, laughed, sang, and enjoyed the presence of one another.

The vibration was high and everyone came together in celebration of love and this major life milestone. From arrival to departure, the trip was smooth sailing.

Our travel styles meshed well together and there was no pressure to be with the group at every waking moment. There is so much joy to be experienced on group trips. It is so important not to overwhelm travelmates with jam-packed itineraries or pre-planned schedules.

Simply invite folks along for the journey and let the rest unfold day by day. The best group trips are flexible, not forced.
